Two Osceola Students Win National Playwright Competition

This is the image for the news article titled Two Osceola Students Win National Playwright CompetitionOsceola County School for the Arts seniors Sophia DuRose and Katie O'Malley have won the Senior Division of the national VSA Playwright Discovery Competition held at The Kennedy Center. Their play, Two Scoops of Ice Cream, was one of seven selected as winners out of the 90 plays submitted. In September, the two students will fly to Washington, D.C. where they will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, rehearsals, a showcase, and the awards ceremony, where they will be honored for their outstanding work.

Each year, young writers with and without disabilities in grades 6-12 across the nation and abroad are asked to explore the disability experience through the art of script writing for stage or screen through the VSA Playwright Discovery Award Program.
