The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Osceola School District by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The school district's Business and Fiscal Services Department received the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement as it was responsible for preparing the award-winning comprehensive annual financial report. The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the district's financial story and to motivate potential users to read the report.
"This outside recognition of our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) validates the transparency of the school system's financial operations," said School Board Chairman Clarence Thacker. "It also highlights the high-quality work being done by our School Board, Superintendent, and our business staff to ensure the taxpayers' investment in our public schools is being spent prudently and where it best benefits children," said School Board Chairman Clarence Thacker.
