Four Osceola school principals have been selected for the Commissioner's Leadership Academy, a year-long job-embedded professional learning opportunity from the Florida Department of Education and the Council for Educational Change:
• Wendy Honeycutt, Principal of Bellalago Academy
• Jonathan Rasmussen, Principal of Celebration High
• Michelle Henninger, Principal of Horizon Middle
• Scott Knoebel, Principal of Narcoossee Elementary
All four Osceola principals will be part of a cadre of Florida's best principals to attend the Academy, which is designed to deepen their skills for improving instruction. The objective of the Academy is to enhance participants' strengths and leadership, continue their professional growth, and enable them to build capacity to support their colleagues at the district and/or state levels. Through the Academy, participants deepen their knowledge and skills in identifying high-quality instruction, along with the professional development necessary to support teachers' own learning. The school leaders will also enhance their skills in providing targeted feedback for teacher growth.
"The selection of these outstanding principals speaks to their commitment to creating school cultures where excellent teachers are thriving and where students are achieving," said Superintendent Dr. Debra Pace. "Their participation in the Commissioner's Leadership Academy will help our district strengthen instructional leadership skills that will directly benefit students and our schools."
