All elementary, middle, and high schools in the Osceola School District will be celebrating College Week between October 3 through October 7, 2016, as part of the district's Strategic Plan focus on increasing and strengthening college pathways for all students. The goal of this district-wide initiative is to increase applications to technical, two-year, and four-year colleges and universities, and to educate students K-12 about post-secondary opportunities. Schools will be hosting a variety of activities including college t-shirt days, trivia, door decorating contests, application days, parent nights, and much more. Highlights of the week include:
-High School College Fairs:
Students in grades 9 -12 will have the opportunity to meet with multiple post-secondary representatives from colleges and universities, as well as the military on the following days:
Osceola High School - September 28
Professional and Technical High School (PATHS) – September 29
Zenith - October 3
Harmony High School - October 5
Liberty High School – October 5
Gateway High School - October 6
Poinciana High School - October 7
-High schools will also have FAFSA Help Days
, where students and parents can receive individual help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
-On October 4, Valencia College will host Match Day
, where nearly 1,000 juniors are bused to Valencia during the day to learn about multiple college opportunities tied specifically to student career interests. That evening, Valencia will host its College Night
, where students of all grade levels can start their college search process, gather local and federal information regarding grants and scholarships, and visit with representatives from colleges and universities located across the country.
