All absences must be excused within one week of the absence.

If documentation is not submitted within the required timeframe, the absence will remain unexcused. Students may receive failing grades for work missed during an unexcused absence in accordance with school and district attendance and grading procedures.

This policy supports consistent student attendance while allowing teachers and staff to manage make-up work and grading efficiently.

  • Below are the attendance policies for the year:

    • Students will be given 5 free tardies to school each quarter, warnings will be sent through Parent Square. Please be sure your phone number is correct in Focus.
    • Excused tardies will only be allowed with medical notes.
    • Phone messages or calls will NOT be accepted to excuse an absence.
    • Communication for absences may be provided by emailing your students’ excuse note to: PNHSAttendance@osceolaschools.net or via your Parent Portal in FOCUS.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Excused Absences

According to the School District of Osceola County Student Code of Conduct, absences shall be excused for the following reasons only:

Please note:  Only 10 excused absences are allowed for the year.

All absences must be excused within one week of the absence.  This policy has been implemented to help encourage attendance and help staff manage grading more efficiently.  Failure to follow the policy will result in failing grades assigned for work missed.

    Make-Up Work

Students have the responsibility to request makeup work and assignments from their teachers when they return to school after and absence. The makeup work must be made up within two days for every day absent when the absence has been classified as excused.

    Religious Holidays

Students will be afforded an opportunity to make up missed work without adverse affects when absent because of a religious holiday. Within five school days prior to an expected absence for religious reasons, a parent or guardian must notify the Attendance Office in writing 5 days prior the holiday with the Pre-Arranged Absence Form and request that the student be excused from attendance.
